Vehicle 3 of 15
Chassis number: F19
Registration number: HAC 404V
Engine type: 2.25 Petrol
Gearbox type: 5 Speed
Vehicle spec:
This is one of the batch of around 25 Pre-production Land Rover 110” vehicles which were built in 1980. These vehicles had handmade inner wings and wheel arch eyebrows and the jacking points are in the front bumper. Several different body types were made and this vehicle carries export-spec side windows and is not fitted with a heater.
This vehicle is one of five survivors and left the Land Rover Engineering fleet in November 1983 although the company retained the engine, gearbox assembly, prop shafts, radiator, wheels, doors and exhaust. The chassis and body were due to be scrapped. However, these were sold by mistake by the scrap dealer.
The remains of the vehicle were in dry storage for around 25 years with a Land Rover specialist. The Collection acquired it in late 2005 and a full rebuild was carried out over the Christmas holiday break, trying to retain as much as possible of the original features and paint. We would love to find its original engine which was numbered 24FRF17.
