Vehicle 6 of 13
Chassis number: SALLJGMM3WA567426
Registration number: R955 KMV
Engine type: 3.9 V8 Petrol
Gearbox type: 4 Speed Automatic
Vehicle spec:
This is the very last Discovery 1. The model ran from 1989 to 1998 and is the vehicle that is generally considered to have saved Land Rover. The Discovery was the launch pad for the 200Tdi diesel engine, but this one is the V8i model.
It was built on 28 August 1998 then handed over to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust collection at Gaydon, were it remained for four years until it was deemed to be surplus to requirements and was sold at auction in 2002. It has had two owners since the sale and both have treasured this unique vehicle. To date it has only covered 33,000 miles and is in very original un-welded condition.
The colour is Charleston Green which is perhaps not the most popular choice. The LPG that has been added by one of the previous owners will be removed at some stage to take the vehicle back to back to standard specification. This means the Collection now has both the oldest and the youngest Discovery 1s in existence.
