This odd-looking early Series III started life as a pick-up and was prepared as a Motor Show vehicle with a dual colour scheme on the wheels, which it still retains.

After the show it was modified for use installing winch cables on 101” Forward Control vehicles. The hydraulic winch fitted into the rear cage on this vehicle would tension the winch cable while it was being wound onto the winch drum on the 101”.

The winch is driven from the centre PTO and the large tank on the front bumper is for the hydraulic fluid.

This vehicle has covered a very low mileage, having spent most of its life parked up in a corner of a yard at Solihull.

It was known at the factory as ‘The Birdcage’.
