Vehicle spec:

This is one of the early 109-inch press cars which was originally grey, and several photographs exist of it in different forms while it was part of the Land Rover press fleet. It was sold to Peter Moy in May 1960 and converted by Moy and Precision Engineering Products (Suffolk) Ltd into the Conveyor, which had been conceived and designed by Peter Moy. It is believed to be the only 109 Moy Conveyor built.

The vehicle underwent various trials and was then loaned to the Museum of Army Transport at Beverely. After the museum’s closure in 2003, the Moy Conveyor eventually found itself in the care of the REME Museum at Bordon, and from there it joined the Dunsfold Collection in 2009 as part of a vehicle swap.

A prototype Conveyor based on a 1953 Series I 80 had been built by Moy in late 1958 and underwent military trials, but no orders were placed. This vehicle survives but without its conveyor system.

Peter Moy subsequently entered into a commercial arrangement with aircraft ground handling specialists H W Edghill Equipment Ltd, and a number of Series II 88-inch Conveyors were delivered to British European Airways (BEA) and the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) at London’s Heathrow Airport, where
they were used for baggage handling.
