Vehicle spec:
This is one of the early 109” press cars which was originally grey. It was converted to the Moy Elevator in around 1961 as a private venture. Many photographs exist of YAC 498 in different forms while at the factory as a press vehicle.
The elevator makes the car all but impossible to drive due to the high centre of gravity, but it was evaluated by various potential users at the time.
The ramp at the front can be used as a crane by clipping on a custom made hook. Controls are run from a PTO hydraulic pump and work from inside and at the rear ramp.
For much of its life it was in the former Beverley Museum before being transferred to the REME reserve collection at Bordon.
This has to be one of the most original base vehicles, still having many original features. It is therefore an excellent reference point for enthusiasts, collectors and restorers.
